Ovulation calendar

Pregnancy begins at the moment of spermatozoon and womans ovule coming into contact with each other. Probability of child conception in this situation depends on whether ovule and spermatozoon meet at a certain time. In order to perform coitus for the purpose of childbirth its essential to identify favourable for conception period. The most optimal time for child conception is believed to be the time of ovulation, at that time the ovule ripens in ovary. However womans sex cells or ovule are active for a short period of time, and fertilization of ovule should occur during this period. As said above, the most optimal period is when womans ovulation begins, and if this period of time is correctly calculated, chances to conceive a child considerably increase. A lot of methods exist to calculate that period, however, not all of them can give hundred-percent guarantee of conception because different factors affect it. Currently it takes the majority of pairs from 6 months to a year to conceive a child.
One of the prevailing methods to calculate the beginning of ovulation is calendar method. Using this method pairs have sex during certain menstrual period. Within this period the probability to conceive a child is very high, that is to say, during this period womans body contains an ovule that could be fertilized. However, if we compare ovulation signs, ovulation that takes place in a womans organism doesnt have any essential signs, therefore calculation of this period may be considered relative.
With regular menstruation calendar determination is done the following way. The ovule in womans organism ripens roughly by the middle of menstrual period, therefore ovulation depends on the lenght of this period. With 28 day cycle in most cases ovulation begins on 14th - 15th day of the cycle, but can also occur from 13th to 17th day of the cycle, which means that within these 5 days chances to become pregnant are the highest. Given the fact that spermatozoon can be active for 4 days its possible to become pregnant within 4 days before this period. The womans ovule also has a certain period of activity, thus a day can be added to the ovulation period as the ovule stays active for a day. To sum up these calculations, we get 10 days, that is to say from 9th to 18th day of the cycle inclusive theres maximum possibility to become pregnant. If the menstrual cycle is shorter, about 21-24 days, then ovulation period happens on 10th - 12th day, and if the cycle is on the contrary longer (32-35 days), then this period takes place on 16th or 18th day from the start of menstruation. The cycle duration in the present case isnt very important, maximum conception period is anyway within 10 days, counting 20 days off menstruations first day.
With irregular menstruation calendar determination is done the following way. In the majority of cases the cycle isnt regular, the variation is approximately 3 - 7 days, therefore the period of ovules ripening and ovulation changes. Therefore during the cycle woman should determine the short and long cycle.
In order to do this the following calculations can be done:
The first number we get by substracting 19 from the number of days of the long cycle;
The second number we get by substracting 10 from the same number of days of the long cycle;
The first number is the first day when conception can occur, while the second number is the last day. However nowadays 15% of women have irregular cycle, so in this situation calendar method is simply impossible to be used.
Even during a rhythmic cycle ovulations dont always occur in the middle of the cycle, different reasons can affect them. There is an opinion that under the influence of coitus, taking medicines, especially of hormonal type, an extra ovulation can occur on every day of menstrual cycle, or the day of ovulations beginning can change. Its important to remember that spermatozoon is active for 4 days, and sometimes ovules fertilization happens after coitus 4 days before ovulation. Therefore calendar method based only on calculating the dates isnt very effective.
