Early Pregnancy Toxemia

Nausea and other ailments are quite widespread in the first trimester of pregnancy. Almost all future mothers go through them, but some women suffer from these manifestations of pregnancy to a greater degree. Discover how to cope with toxemia. Does a proper treatment for it exist? Here you can find answers to your questions with some helpful hints.

TOXEMIA DURING PREGNANCY

Main changes take place in womans body soon after conception - the body adapts to nourishment of the growing fetus. The uterus expands, secretion of hormones increases. Usually most future mothers suffer from nausea and vomiting approximately already in the sixth week of pregnancy. Although this problem is called «morning sickness» or toxemia, such symptoms appear at any time of the day. In most cases pregnant women feel sick almost immediately after waking up in the morning.

Toxemia is usually accompanied by oxyosmia and intensification of receptivity to smells. Also, intensification of appetite and unusual food cravings are not impossible. Future mothers often feel dizziness. It is caused by hemangiectasia when blood vessels are not filled with sufficient amount of blood. Generally morning sickness subsides in the fourth month of pregnancy. However, some women experience toxemia throughout the whole pregnancy.

Hyperemesis gravidarum (hypernormal vomiting) is a widely-spread condition when woman suffers from excessive vomiting and does not assimilate food and drinks. It can often lead to a dangerous situation, fraught with water deprivation and electrolytic imbalance. We advise the women who encounter this problem to visit the hospital, where doctors will carefully monitor the future mother and growing fetus.

Discomfort, assosiated with morning sickness, is caused by the increase in hormones hCG level, that happens during the first months of pregnancy. Women pregnant with twins feel the nausea more intensively, although this rule has its exceptions. By the way, women, predisposed to migraine and motion sickness, suffer from more severe nausea than the others. Emotional stress and certain types of food also increase the feeling of discomfort during morning sickness.

TOXEMIA TREATMENT

Future mothers often worry whether morning sickness can harm the child. However, there are no reasons to be anxious if the pregnant woman drinks a lot of liquid every day and assimilate at least a small amount of food. Some women even manage to keep their weight during this period, though after the symptoms of morning sickness subside, appetite returns.

If you feel sick in the mornings, we recommend you to get up slowly and have a short rest regularly. Also, soda crackers and a dry toast before breakfast can help to cope with toxemia. In order to always have some food in ventricle, we advise to have small snacks in regular time intervals. Avoid the sun and warm rooms, as they intensify the nausea.
